Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20th, 1964) was an American lawyer, politician and vice president of United States. She is the first woman to hold the vice-president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S history. She is a senator and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to being enlisted into the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General for California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be a senator in the United States Senate. In her time as a senator, she pushed for health reform, federal descheduling of cannabis, a pathway for undocumented immigrants to become citizens, the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. She also supported progressive tax reform. The attention of the nation was drawn by her shrewd examination of Trump administration officials during Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
