Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer, consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker writer, author and television presenter. In 2001, she established The Corcoran Group in New York City. She sold the business to NRT for $66 million. In the following months, she exited from the business. Corcoran has participated in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. In February 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, with the largest being a $350,000 investment which was able to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran is the second child of 10 from a Catholic family with a low-income was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran's career. In times, her family relied on deliveries of food that was free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father, a man who sometimes drank too much and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had a few drinks. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling and later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran began the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her departure from her Catholic elementary school. After failing several courses in her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School, where she graduated as a D student.
